Remove text from videos in Claude and Cursor
The VideoTextRemover MCP server lets AI apps such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor remove burned-in subtitles, captions and other on-screen text from the videos on your computer, and download TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and X videos, on your videotextremover.ai account.
Install
Add one entry to your AI app. Nothing else to set up: you sign in the first time you use it.
Claude Code
claude mcp add videotextremover -- npx -y videotextremover-mcp
Claude Desktop
claude_desktop_config.json and restart Claude:{
"mcpServers": {
"videotextremover": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "videotextremover-mcp"]
}
}
}Cursor, Windsurf and other MCP apps
~/.cursor/mcp.json for Cursor. In VS Code, put it in .vscode/mcp.json under servers.{
"mcpServers": {
"videotextremover": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "videotextremover-mcp"]
}
}
}What to ask
Plain requests work. The AI finds the file, looks at the video and asks you before it spends anything.

How it works
Four steps, all in the chat.
1
Connect your account
The first time, your browser opens videotextremover.ai with a one-time code. Sign in with Google and click Approve; the app picks it up on its own.
2
Agree on a mode
The AI looks at frames from your video, which never leave your computer, and suggests Select area, Subtitles or All text. For boxes, it shows you a frame with the areas to erase shaded red.
3
Confirm the cost
It tells you how many seconds the part uses and waits for your OK. Then it uploads the video and the text is removed in the cloud, in 10 minutes or more.
4
Get the result
When it is done, the clean MP4 is saved next to the original, at the same resolution, up to 1080p.

MCP server FAQ
What is the VideoTextRemover MCP server?
It is a small program that lets AI apps such as Claude and Cursor use VideoTextRemover: remove burned-in subtitles, captions and other text from videos on your computer, and download TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and X videos. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard these apps use to connect to tools.
Is it free?
The MCP server is free, under the MIT license. Removing text uses your VideoTextRemover seconds, 1 credit per second of video, the same as on the website, and failed tasks are not charged. Free monthly seconds are available to accounts created in the US, Canada, the UK, the EU/EEA, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Israel and the UAE, up to two accounts per network each month.
Does it upload my video?
Only when you start a task, and only the part you choose. Frames and box previews are made on your computer. Uploads and results are deleted after 7 days.
Will it spend credit without asking?
The AI is told to show you the mode, the part, the boxes and the cost and to wait for your OK before it starts. A download only uses credit when no free downloads are left and you agree.
How do I sign it out?
Open your account page on videotextremover.ai and sign the app out under Connected AI apps. That revokes its key at once.
Does it work on Windows and Linux?
Yes, anywhere Node.js 18.17 or later runs: macOS, Windows and Linux.
Can it remove watermarks or logos?
Not from other people's videos. It is built for text, and the Terms allow removing watermarks, logos or credits that identify a video's owner only when the video is your own. Only process videos you own or have permission to use.
