A caption remover is a tool that erases captions burned into a video, such as text added in TikTok, CapCut or Instagram before export, and fills in the picture behind them. This AI caption remover works online on MP4 and MOV files: upload the clip, choose Subtitles for caption lines or draw a box over captions that stay in one place, and download it without the captions.

How to remove captions from a video
The same three steps for any platform.
1
Upload the clip
Choose the MP4 or MOV you exported or saved, up to 500 MB and 10 minutes.
2
Pick a mode
Select area if the captions stay in one place: draw a box over them. Subtitles if they show up in different places, All text if titles or labels should go too. Then pick the seconds to process.
3
Download and repost
When the task finishes, download the MP4 without captions at the same resolution, up to 1080p, and add new captions if you want them.
Four ways to get rid of captions
Only one of them keeps the whole picture.
| Method | What you get | What you lose |
|---|---|---|
| Delete the caption layer | A perfect video, if you still have the project | Nothing, but only works before export |
| Crop the video | No captions in the frame | Part of the picture, and the aspect ratio changes |
| Blur or cover the captions | Captions hidden | A visible smudge or bar where they were |
| AI caption remover | The full frame, with the area behind the captions rebuilt | Time (10 to 14 minutes per 30 seconds), and faint traces on busy backgrounds |
Which mode should I use?
Text that stays in one place: Select area. Captions that jump around the frame: Subtitles. Captions plus titles, labels or timestamps: All text. Every mode costs the same, 1 credit per second.
Select area
- Removes
- Everything inside the boxes you draw, text or not. The AI does not look for text; it repaints the whole box.
- Boxes
- Required, up to 6. Each is made 1.4 times as wide and as tall as you draw it, so no edge of a letter is left.
- Best for
- Text that stays in one place for the whole part, such as a subtitle band at the bottom or a title in a corner.
- Watch out
- A box covers the same spot in every frame, and anything else inside it, such as a face or a hand, is repainted too. Keep boxes as small as the text allows: large boxes give weaker results.
Subtitles
- Removes
- Subtitle and caption lines, found on their own in every frame.
- Boxes
- Not needed. You can limit the search to an area.
- Best for
- Film and series subtitles, and social captions that show up in a different place from one line to the next, as on TikTok or Reels.
- Watch out
- It looks for subtitle lines, so titles, labels or timestamps may be left in. Use All text when those should go too.
All text
- Removes
- Every word in the frame: subtitles and captions, plus titles, labels, timestamps and lower thirds.
- Boxes
- Not needed. You can limit the search to an area.
- Best for
- Clips with captions and other on-screen text to clear in one go, and large captions that pop up one or two words at a time.
- Watch out
- Text you want to keep, such as a brand name on a product, can go too. Turn on Limit to an area to keep it out.
Limit to an area, in Subtitles and All text
Turn it on and draw boxes, and the AI looks for text only inside them. Unlike Select area, nothing inside a box is touched unless it is text, and text outside the boxes stays. For example, to remove the subtitles at the bottom but keep a title at the top, choose Subtitles and draw one box over the bottom band.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free caption remover?
Yes: you get 30 seconds of video free every month after signing in with Google, enough for a short clip or a 30-second part of a longer one. After that it is pay per second, about $0.030 per second on monthly plans, about $0.025 on yearly plans and about $0.033 to $0.040 with credit packs. Free monthly seconds are available to accounts created in the US, Canada, the UK, the EU/EEA, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Israel and the UAE, up to two accounts per network each month.
How do I remove captions from a video?
Upload the video, pick a mode (Select area for captions that stay in one place, Subtitles for captions that show up in different places), choose the part with captions, and select Remove text; then download the clean MP4. If the captions are still a text layer in your editing project, it is quicker to delete that layer and export again.
What is the difference between Select area, Subtitles and All text?
Select area erases everything inside boxes you draw, text or not, so it suits text that stays in one place. Subtitles finds subtitle and caption lines on its own in every frame, even when they show up in different places. All text finds every word in the frame, including titles, labels and timestamps. In Subtitles and All text you can also limit the search to boxes you draw. All three cost 1 credit per second of video.
Can I remove captions from a TikTok video?
Yes, as long as the captions are burned into the video file you have. Upload the MP4 and choose Subtitles; if the video has other text you want to keep, turn on Limit to an area and draw a box over the captions.
How long does it take for a 60-second clip?
About 14 to 16 minutes, based on our AI provider's own production tests; a 30-second 1080p clip takes 10 to 14 minutes. Processing runs in the background, so you can close the tab and come back to Recent tasks.
Does it work on vertical 9:16 videos?
Yes: any aspect ratio works, and the result keeps the same frame and resolution, up to 1080p.
Will it also remove the TikTok watermark?
No, the text remover does not touch watermarks. If it is your own TikTok, the TikTok downloader saves the original file without the watermark TikTok adds when you save in the app.
Is an AI caption remover better than cropping?
It keeps the whole frame, which cropping cannot: cropping cuts away part of the picture and changes its shape. The trade-off is time, because the AI repairs every frame, and on busy backgrounds faint traces can remain.
Try it on your own video
The first 30 seconds are free every month. Upload a clip, pick the part with the text, and see the result.
